A New International Destination in the Heart of the Sonoran Desert

Strategically located in northern Mexico, near the United States border and within easy reach of Phoenix, Arizona, the Francisco de Asís Project has been envisioned as a world-class destination that seamlessly integrates science, tourism, entertainment, education, innovation, and sustainability into a single, transformative development. With more than 122,000 m² of land and approximately 158,000 m² of planned construction, this ambitious project aims to become one of the most innovative developments in Mexico and a new international landmark for the State of Sonora.

One of the project’s most iconic attractions will be the Francisco de Asís International Bowling Center, designed to feature 180 bowling lanes distributed across three distinct levels, making it potentially the largest bowling facility in the world by lane count. Its strategic location near Phoenix, Arizona—one of the largest bowling and recreational sports markets in North America—positions the complex to host international championships, professional tournaments, corporate events, and visitors from around the world.

Another cornerstone of the development is the creation of what is envisioned to become one of the most advanced astronomical observatories in Mexico. The Sonoran Desert offers exceptional natural conditions for astronomical observation, including clear skies, minimal light pollution, low humidity, and outstanding visibility throughout much of the year. Leveraging these unique advantages, the project will feature a state-of-the-art observatory equipped with professional telescopes, public observation platforms, educational facilities, research areas, and immersive astronomy experiences designed to inspire both visitors and future generations.

Complementing the observatory, the project will introduce the Desert Academy, an educational and scientific center dedicated to exploring the unique ecosystem, biodiversity, history, and natural heritage of the Sonoran Desert. Through interactive exhibits, workshops, galleries, and educational programs, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of one of the world’s most fascinating desert environments.

The development will also include a carefully planned hospitality and entertainment district featuring a hotel with a variety of room categories and suites, a vibrant gastronomic district with specialty restaurants, retail and commercial spaces, family entertainment venues, business facilities, and modern visitor services.

Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of the Francisco de Asís vision. The project incorporates advanced renewable energy solutions, including extensive photovoltaic systems integrated into building roofs, parking structures, and architectural façades. Innovative energy-efficient technologies and future water-generation solutions are also being considered to support a sustainable and resilient desert destination.
